起初看到Aspire: Discovering Your Purpose Through The Power of Words就好奇單憑words可以帶來什麼啟發。作者Kevin Hall在書中以11個不同語言的字詞作為11個不同的章節展開了一趟生命意義的啟發之旅。這11個字詞完整地帶出了自我成長和處世態度。
這當中有一個是我一直都在尋找的，Passion。對於這個字，我一直理解為熱誠。作者一直相信字詞有很大的力量。為在這方面有更深的了解，他結識了一位非常出色的詞源(etmology)專家，Professor Arthur Watkins。在Arthur教授的解說下，理解了Passion這個字出自於十二世紀一位基督教的學者，意思為受苦(to suffer)，基督甘願受苦(willing suffering of Christ)。我這才明白了Passion of Christ。
這和我所理解的Passion（熱誠）相符合。一直相信擁有熱誠，就不怕艱辛。從事著熱誠的工作，即使時間再長，還是可以很開心，滿足。
